The new update for iPhones and iPads is about 70MB in size. It focuses on fixing a few bugs, most notably the HomeKit vulnerability that first came to light about a week ago. This bug could potentially let a perpetrator gain access to one’s connected devices like lights, and thermostats among others. With the latest update, Apple has fixed this vulnerability.
The update also fixes an auto-focus issue that cropped up for some users post updating to iOS 11.2. This issue was faced by iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X users, Macrumors reports. Users complained about how the camera was unable to focus on a subject. On the dual-camera smartphones, the camera ‘shifted continually between the two lenses’.
To update your iOS device to the latest operating version head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update. It is recommended that you connect your device to Wi-Fi, and a power socket during the update process.
The recently rolled out iOS 11.2 was a major update bringing with it a host of bug fixes, and features like Apple Pay Cash and fast charging. The update however felt rushed, and users have been complaining about issues since day one. But Apple seems to have ironed out most of them, and now’s a good time to update your devices to the latest OS.
